Just aquired this beautiful Bark River V44 marine raider. It is from the first production run. It is not the LT version. Does anyone know when these were first made? (sorry, too old to figure out how to post a photo using an http file)

Hey man, sorry that you didn't get any help with your post. I love MANY brands of knives, but pretty quickly learned that the "Bark River" hate is endemic on this Site. Again, sorry.

Anyhow, I'll try to help...

I believe that the Bark River V44s were first offered around 2017 or 2018. As far as I know, and much like the "First Production Run" A2 Squad Leaders, the first run was the ONLY run. Please, take that with a grain of salt, as I'm no Bark River aficionado, despite owning quite a few.

I didn't score one of their V44s during the original drop. Because of that, it quickly became a "grail knife" for me. Lucky for me, a gentleman offered an unused sample in The Exchange a few months back. I wish I could remember his screenname. He was GREAT to deal with and offered the knife with zero scalper-type mark-up.

I like to use ALL of my big fixies. However, because it's such a beautiful specimen (*and I don't own a duplicate), my Bark River V44 sits "on display", on my bookshelf. In my opinion, it's quite the piece...

As far as I can tell, they don't become available often. So, CONGRATS on your recent score!!! ❤️ 👌

Try an internet search on "Bark River Production Schedule" and variations thereof. I see that there is a Facebook group specific to that topic, but since I don't do Facebook, I cannot access any of that content. BRK and some of their big distributors may also have "history" pages.

Further, you can try the WaybackMachine/InternetArchive (archive.org) that captures images of webpages going....well, way back. You could find an early page of BRK etc. that first mentions this knife. They've been under attack recently, so availability might vary.

As an example, this:

should show you the Marbles page as it was on the 'net on 26 Sept. 2001. Pages take a while to load, so be patient.

Thanks for the replies, guys. This is the only image I can figure out to post here. This is the model I have. I have been looking for literally 2 decades for a US made bowie that looks like this… matching brass guard and butt, with the old school clip point blade, and no huge ugly writing on the blade, with stacked leather or wood handle. Finally !!
