Some time ago I noticed Bark River was putting some custom handles of wood or Micarta on select Fallkniven knives for KnivesShipFree.com. I had an older Fallkniven A1 with a solid VG10 blade and a rubber handle that is one of my favorite knives. The only problem was that I have never liked rubber handles.
They just don't do it for me. :thumbdn:
I contacted Mike at Bark River and found out he was working with KSF to develop user kits to rehandle Falknivens. The plan was to supply owners of rubber handled Fallknivens with computer precut handle panels so that they can rehandle their own knives. Great idea, if you can mix epoxy you could have a sexy Fallkniven for a great price!
He asked me to send in my knife and as it turned out my old style A1 had a tang shape he did not have access to.

After cutting off the rubber handle he had it included in the computer program to produce the grip panels for Fallkniven kits.
Fast forward almost one year. I was beginning to forget what my A1 looked like. After a pattern of monthly communication with Mike he finally told me they just had not found the machinist time to cut the Fallkniven panels yet.
So I was sitting waiting on the Bark River machinist company to get the time to produce a run of handle kits. As you know Bark River is a BUSY company. Mike seems to come up with a new project weekly if you follow goings on at the Bark River forum.
Finally I got lucky in that KSF had sent in some some Fallkniven blank blades for Bark River to rehandle. Mike had one of his excellent employees hand cut the handle panels for the KSF order and mine rode thru the shop with them.
Mike is a SUPER guy and a real gentleman. He respectfully answered the regular messages concerning my knife like it was the only thing he had going on when we all know it was not by any means. The end result was that recently I opened a box from Bark River and inside was my old A1, shaving sharp and sporting a new natural canvas Micarta handle!
