Is there anybody who owns one of these knives out there who can tell me what they think of this knife? I am thinking of buying one, but I can not find a review anywhere....Thanks.

Yes, I received one but it had an inclusion I didn't like in the burl handle. They're sending another one out. Overall, it's a spectacular knife. The blade is 52100 tool steel with a nice satin finish. It is well balanced and nicely fitted. If you like classic blades, this one will fit the bill. I would recommend it over others hunters that have that big kitchen knife look. I will have another one a week or so and will certainly use and review it then.

Halbie- I gave you some grief on your topic about the Boone. But I'm glad to know that BRKT is sending you out a good one. No hard feelings, I hope, and we look forward to seeing pics of your new Boone when it arrives.

No problem. I gave some grief in return, so we're probably even. :)

I keep bugging the vendor about when it's going to come in. But, when you think about it, these things can last a life time. So, patience...

The Boone/Boone II is an excellent traditional hunting knife. Hones to a wicked edge, very comfortable in the hand.

The steel picks up a patina pretty quickly - but also polishes up quickly with Flitz, etc., if you're not a patina person.

Well-made leather sheath.

Mine is "Vintage stacked leather" - has some brass spacers along with the red and black ones at each end of the handle. Looks great.

Hmm.. the 'Lil Boone looks an awful lot like my Fieldcraft... It's one of the 52100 series Mike Stewart did when he was at Marble's. To say it takes a wicked edge doesn't do it justice...

I know it's billed as a hunter. but do you guys think it would be suitable as an all around "woods" knife? (Blade shape, steel, and all).

Absolutely. I plan to use it for both hunting and hiking, especially off-trail hiking. :)

It's certainly big enough for everything but heavy chopping, and it's razor sharp. I wouldn't call it a heavy duty camp knife, but I don't think that's what they had in mind. As for the shape of the blade, it's a Bowie and well executed at this length. You don't need a massive or extreme Bowie for an all around hunting/camping/woods knife.

I won't take any of my A2 blades slogging through the water, so I won't do the same with 52100. Others will. Your choice.
