grippy handle, extremely comfortable, three-dimetional.

Closest competitors on my opinion Mission MPK, MOD Mark V and MadDog ATAK but the price is way bigger.I am very impressed

Look how it cuts - this leaf near the begining of the blade was cut unintentionaly when I put knife on the tree - I notice it only when I check picture:

(I sharpened it myself - it was not shaving sharp out of the box)

Thanks, Vassili.

Ah Vassili, I just ordered one of those myself so it's interesting to see some decent pictures of it. There's not much information on them but it was cheap, 1/4 inch A2 and made by Bark River so I'm looking forward to trying it when I get it.
Nice site too, lots of good pictures, although it's in some damned foreign language so I can't read it..(The last bit is a joke! lol)
Rod.

This is one of the first BarkRiver made knife. So it is made by Mike Stewart in Escabana MI.
I am not sure that it is appropriate to put link to other forum, so let me just copy/paste Mike's replay

That was one of the knives we built when we first started Bark River a little over three years ago. One of the Owners of EK wanted us to build it and sell it.

...

The knife you have ,was designed by Vaughn Neeley and I many years ago... When we designed it --Vaughn designed the handle and I designed the blade.

Thanks, Vassili.

Looks like a great knife in a decent size for all-round use. The A2 steel choice is also relatively uncommon these days. Jason.

Bark River Knife and Tools is owned by Mike Stewart. The company makes some of the nicest and user friendly knives around, with quality approaching those of custom makers. They also makes knives for OEM. And he DOES stand behind his company, along with his sons and family.

Their blades are laser cut, cnc flat ground and hand convexed. You can have any handles available, even fibermascus! Ever seen Fern type Micarta? You can also supply the handle slabs as long as its waht u want and its not poisonous.

The knives are design with user participation and incorporates designs tried and tested by users but made by BRKT.

Have a look here.

They also have their own forum where Mike posts nearly every day!

I personally owns a Mini, mikro canadian, a forager, a fieldsman 2, a Northstar and a Rogue.

I have one that was made by Marble Arms for EXPEDITION Knives Inc. model One-Zero-I.
IIRC, this was another Mike Stewart endeavour before Bark River came to be. It's exactly the same as yours with the sole exception being the tip on mine was ground a bit thinner judging from your pics.

It is and Ek #5. Expedition Knives was an attempt to knock off Ek knives well after he no longer had the rights. If he had the rights, or even thought he had the rights, he would have marked them Ek.

If I knew who really had the rights to them, I'd buy the rights and make the #5 the way that would have made John Ek proud...

According to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, registration of the mark "EK" was abandoned by Expedition Knives, Inc., an Illinois Corporation, on April 25, 2000 (on which date the mark "Expedition" was also abandoned). There is no record of a current registration of that mark (or "Expedition"). However, the mark "EK Knives" was registered in December, 2001, by Royal Windyne Ltd. This company may [Please note "may."] be owned by Robert Buerlein and George Dinges.

The marks "EK Warrior," "Ek Desert Warrior," and "EK Desert Patrol" were registered by American Heritage Foundation, Ltd. (with which Robert Buerlein is associated), but the registrations were cancelled early in 1999.

Gotta love the #5 it's my favorite for an all around Survival Bowie, as you can see mine is a user not a closet queen.
