Barlows?

I am a fan of the barlow pattern... I like having a larger blade for when I'm playing in the woods, an the smaller one for around town.
I love half stops on a slipjoint.
sadly it doesn't seem like there are allot of them around anymore
Case, Boker, and than the lower end companies Steel warrior etc...
Remington and Queen make the big daddy jammers, but that' a little to big for my needs

I recently cam across Dexter Russell Razor Barlow which seems to made in germany with carbon steel blades... any good?

any suggestions on other companies that currently produce the barlow pattern?

I picked up a Camillus a while ago. Has half stops, carbon blade and all that, but plastic scales.
Got it mainly for the pen blade, since I love the one on my Vic Huntsman.
Problem is the pen blade is extremely hard to open. Clip blade is fine though.

Riley, if inclined, check out our site www.newgraham.com type barlow in the search box....I came up with two dozen barlows on our site (did not check inventory...some I know are discontinued and may be sold out). Cheap Imperials start around 5 bucks. I saw a USA Remington w/Damascus for 200.00. Also a pre-65 Case Redbone in the mix. Most are Case as you might suspect, but hey, you might see something you don't have in your collection.
Thanks for the look, Mike

I have 5 barlows made by timber wolf and they are really nice barlows. They do feature half stops and nice spring action. They are a China made knife but I truly feel they are a good bang for the buck. If your interested email me and I'll send you a link to where I buy mine at.

A few examples, all 2-blade versions, all currently available from at least one online dealer I've searched (minutes ago):

Boker 0492HH (3-1/2", stag handles, carbon steel, made in Solingen)
Case 62009 1/2 SS (3-3/8", second cut antique bone, stainless)
Case 52009 DAM (3-3/8", stag handle, damascus blades)
Queen Dan Burke 2-blade Small Barlow QN9867 (3-1/2", sawed bone handle, D2 blades)

I'm sure there are more. Keep lookin', you'll find 'em.

Look at the 3 1/2" Dan Burke Queen colab in D2 with a spear main blade and a half sized warnie
In the most beautiful amber translucent bone

The knife comes up often in threads

I agree with Dan Burke small barlow (my avatar knife) Case has very nice Dark Molasses Barlow that has stainless spear and pen blades. Very nice one too.

I have a few Case and one Boker,
the brands mentioned earlier.
Schrade USA has the 206 as basic barlow.
A few special editions like the Grand Dad's Old Timer.
One of my favOrites is the original Schrade Heritage from 1983-1984
Choice of 3 bone colors: red, brown, and green which as I understand it
green was only issued in 1983. Blue top box original Heritage Series
continued thru 1986 but the barlow was replaced by the 33 type jack
for 85-86.

Here's a 1983 Green, may be a post closing assemblage since handles are more square than genUwine 1983s I've seen. Plus it has non Heritage primary.
What the heck it's just a barlow, right? ;)

Also some S&M barlows were included in several of the series.
I was fortunate enough to acquire one.

That's about all I know about the multi-billion dollar barlow bidniss.

The Queen Dan Burke Barlow is a great knife! I liked
mine so much, I bought another one! Maybe you
should check them out! Good luck!

Riley, you need to look into Great Eastern Cutlery - awesome traditional knives, and built like tanks. Their #25 Barlow is a regular edc of mine (mine is smooth buffalo horn with a swedged clip point and long nail pull ).

I would definitely recommend a Boker if you find one you like. If I'm not mistaken, they also produced the German made Russell barlows. There are some single blade versions available from Bulldog if you don't mind the synthetic scales. I've also seen the Utica KutMaster ones but have no idea what the quality is like on them.

Here's my Boker.

Yup, the newer production Russells are pretty much a spittin' image of the Bokers (and that's a good thing;)).

The Ka-bars are also worth a look.
