His folders are my favorite. They just make me smile. Any other Barry Wood and Mike Eire fans out there? Lets hear it for Barry and Mike. :):)

I had Colt Wood version and thought it was nifty. A bit time consuming for everyday use, IMHO.

I like nifty locks and designs.

I'll have to do a search on Eire though.

Okay, didn't realize it was the same (at least conceptually).

The thing I like about these knives is that most of them are of high quality (conversely, they also aren't exactly inexpensive).

It's one of those under-appreciated designs.

For quite a few years Mike made all of the knives. Mike does excellent work.

I have a similar designed knife made in Italy in the late 60's. I always called it a sideways butterfly knife. It is a lot lighter in construction and has an imitation stag handle.

I have one of the Barry Wood designed knives made by Pacific Cutlery. Very cool!

I'm a big fan of new and interesting lock designs. The Neely lock on the Timberlite, the Lev-R-Lock, the Thumb Bolt, the Axis lock, the Aristocrat Majestic, the Case Tri-Fold, etc., etc.

I picked up a Colt version some years ago , mint in box with pouch too. Also got a Mike Irie made version that is a 1 of 50 for the Rocky mountain Knife collectors club ( Or at least that's what I think the inscription on the blade refers to). I really like 'em and can't bring myself to sell them even though both are drawer fillers.
Paul.

As an aside, I've noticed that knife clubs use to have some quality pieces made for them.

When I see a club knife, I start researching. A lot of "forgotten" makers show up, unfortunately. Quality, non-the-less.

I have a knife like that that is made in Italy by Bonanza.

It was called a butterfly knife when I bought it (from AG Russell I think). I really know nothing about the knife aside from that. I think the handles are Micarta, and have know idea what the blade steel is.

Its a pretty cool knife. Very Solid. Not that I have ever used it.

Thanks for all of your replies. I wish they were still making them.

Dave :)
