Here's a British Army Service in a standard scabbard. Although the blade is not marked I think this BAS was made by Sher because of its weight -- about 1.75 pounds which as a third or so on the heavy side. It's a decent enough rig with a cracked handle. Ten minutes and ten cents worth of epoxy will turn this into a top quality khukuri that should last 50 or 100 years.

Get the knife for half price -- $50 and we will pay shipping.

Call or email if interested.

Khukuri FAQ

It came today and it is first rate. Very heavy duty for a BAS. The last BAS I had had that little tang breakage problem. From the looks and feel of this one I think it will outlast me! The handle is cracked as advertised and should be an easy fix. There are also a few small spots of surface rust which should polish out nicely. The blade is very highly polished. It also seems to have a slight fuller to it that I don't remember being there on my last BAS. The brass bolster is highly polished and nicely fitted. The buttcap has an extremely high polish to it and is fitted very tightly and evenly with no sharp edges to dig into the hand. The "points" of the buttcap and handle actually sem to be a bit more rounded than ususal and may not need to be modified. The scabbard it typically high quality though the leather of the frog is a bit thin. (you should get your Shop 1 sarkis back Uncle Bill. The sheith on my shop 1 AK is still the best I own!) The karda and the chakma, while not works of art, are sized for use by American hands and should be perfectly serviceable.
This is more knife than $50 should be able to buy! Thank you Uncle Bill and please tell Sher that he has made me a first rate BAS.Now, I think I'll go give it a workout!

This thing chops almost as well as my 15" AK and handles a bit better. The overall weight and length is almost identical but the BAS has a much more neutral balance as opposed to the AK's top heavy feel. As I said, while it lacks a LITTLE bit of chopping power as compared to the AK it feels much quicker in the hand. I haven't fixed the crack yet and it has not affected the performance of the blade nor the feel of the handle. The polished edges of the buttcap and the more rounded corners combine to make for a much more comfortable handle. This is an area that has needed attention on all of my other khukris.
This is about the best bargain I have ever gotten!
Uncle Bill, are the super frogs made of thicker leather? If so do you have any and how much are they?

Thanks for report from field, Mike.

Super frogs are almost always made of very substantial leather and quite well done. If you need some I can special order -- $6 each -- measure circumference of scabbard.
