Hey i need help with my kukri because it has started rusting even though i use WD-40 + 3 in 1 oil to prevent that. Do you guise let a patina form by just wiping off the moisture and just leaving it? Because i can't tell if this is a good patina rust or a bad rust? Also do you oil your kukris after every use or like every week or so? Saying that you use it every day.

WD-40 is more of a drying agent and not a rust preventative. I use ballistol on mine and it does a good job of stopping the rust, but any good blade/gun oil will work. A big issue is to avoid condensation on the cold metal. Storing your blades in a dry, climate controlled environment is the best rust preventative. Using the blades outdoors during winter it is important to wipe the blade down again after it has reached room temperature as the condensation will be dripping from the steel. Sometimes it helps to store outside the sheath also.
Good luck,.

MEJ, patina will usually be blue or gray 'ish. Rust will be red. A lot of us use mineral oil to wipe them down it blocks moisture isn't half bad for the sheath either and did I mention cheap. And you can also use it on wood or horn handles. Some people who like to keep them polished and rust free might use Renaissance Wax. Personally I spray them down with a good cleaner after heavy use as much to prevent crap (tree sap and wood bits) from getting encrusted to the steel. And let the patina develop. Some people also will take a scotchbrite pad and just knock the polish off the blade both to not worry about scratches and to make cleanup easier.
You can also force a patina with vinegar or Ferric chloride.
Edit just checked your location (I think the term is temperate rainforest?) I'd wipe them down after every use or go the Ren Wax or Metal polish route.

I don't oil my working blades at all. If they're in use they just get cleaned with a scotch-brite pad at the end of the day and set out to dry.

I use WD-40 and Scotchbrite pads to clean and then use whatever oil I have for rust prevention. I normally keep a few cans of Rem Oil around, one on my truck, one in my Polaris and some around the house. I give them a light coat of Rem Oil after use in the field and then clean and recoat them once I get home. The same as a rifle or other carbon knife.

I do not store them in their scabbards.
