I thought I would make a thread to keep track of some projects I am working on and to have a place to ask for suggestions and guidance without cluttering everywhere else. I am still pretty "green" on this stuff so I welcome all suggestions/comments and criticism. After all I'm here to learn and have fun.

I posted this before but here are some nice pieces I picked up at an estate auction last week.

From the Bottom then Clockwise:

1. Plumb Victory
2. Spiller Oakland, Maine
3. Belknap's "Spear Point" Bluegrass
4. Council Tool Velvicut
5. ?? yellow paint - illegible stamp
6. "R AXE" - illegible stamp
7. Lakeside
8. Craftsman Double Bit
9. BBB "Hand Forged Extra Tool Steel"

Haven't had a chance to clean them up yet. I will probably take the wire cup brush on the angle grinder and see what that does. I have been using white vinegar, but I think I'll try this method first since the rust isn't that bad.

All will be rehafted... eventually. I'll reuse any that are in decent shape.

Anyone have an idea of the painted yellow hatchet?

Or the smaller double bit? I have never seen one this small.

Judging by the eye size the double bit is just a worn out full size axe and not a cruiser.

Interesting stamp on the yellow hatchet.
 
Can we see a top-down shot of the little DB? Is the eye actually 3" long or is that just how it "looks" in the picture?
 
Heavily worn full size axe. Good candidate for an axe mod if you're one who likes to cut up axes.
 
Yeah the top-down pic helps a lot. You can really see how thick the bits are. And the angle of the side-by-side makes the toes look well worn. It looks like it was taken care of and used pretty evenly though - whoever owned it, liked the toes. :) That wasn't a foot fetish joke.
