Newbie to identifying and I am wholly awakened to how awesome and historically significant all edged tools are to us.
That said, I found this in a drawer of my grandad's basement.
I am just curious to learn if any members have seen or know about this.
I am not interested in a value, just maker, age, utility...any good at all LOL!

If I remember correctly sfb knives were imported from Japan by York Cutlery Co.
Not sure who actually makes them though.

You might want to try asking in Bernard Levine's sub forum, you'll have better luck there.

You might have better luck in the traditional's forum. But it looks like an inexpensive Pakistani knife. The real value is that it was owned by your granddad. Put it in your pocket and enjoy it!

Probably not a great knife, but a great find for sure. It looks well used, with plenty of life left in it. Use it, enjoy it.
If it holds an edge well enough, great!
If it doesn't, know that you'll probably leave better steel for your grand kids to find.

Luckily you have a decent knife from your grandfather, and this the perfect candidate for a tackle box knife.
It doesn't look like something he cherished, and had no worries about abusing so you should do the same.
I've had a number of Pakistan knives, and while most were total garbage I do have one that will take a decent edge which makes a good beater / disposable knife.

I used to have a similar one. Even once I realized it was not a great knife, I'd carry it just because my dad gave it to me.

One day while hiking in Hubbard Park in Meriden I used it and the lock bar snapped on me. At that point the knife was dangerous so I buried it up on the way to the tower. I bet it's still there.
But i definitely used it till I broke it. Then interred with the respect owed.

Oh yeah, also CT here. Just outside of Hartford. Welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the forum.

That Gerber Silver Knight is a fine piece to pack along with you.

Not a real fan of Pakistani stuff myself, but Grandad's knife would probably be just fine in the tackle box or shop drawer.
