Hi all,

If this has been discussed before, I could not find it with my searches. For those of you who have handled and/or own both the basic 10 and DFLE, how do these two knives compare with each other, and what are the differences in your opinion that would make you prefer one over the other?

Thanks.

DFLE is an old school knife ... but excellent on balance and feel ... it is probably "Genesis" to the Basic 10's "New Testament" ... ultimately both superb but Infi trumps SR77 ... there are a lot of people who wish the DFLE would have been offered in Infi ... do that and the DFLE/Infi combo would start a lot of activity at the trough !

The DFLE is a thicker and heavier knife than the B10 LE. 16.8 oz, 0.25" vs 14.3 oz, 0.23". Without having chopped with both, just swinging them around, you can tell that the DFLE carries more weight out front, while the B10 feels quicker and more neutral, relatively speaking.

Guys - thanks for the responses. Nice to know the differences between the two knives. I suppose it depends on the style a person wants - more long knife, or more chopper. I like the Genesis/New Testament analogy. Your input has help me to choose between the two, appreciate it.

I have a basic 9 that suppose to arrive tomorrow sometime. It has a 10" blade and I will weight it but It looks similar to the 911. I will let you know how it feels or maybe post pictures for you. I was after a DF but after reading wanted an Infi blade first.

Nice pick up on the Basic 9, I had eyeballed it myself. Ended up buying the Basic 10LE, which seems like a long knife that can chop too. I prefer this style, which probably explains why I like the Basic 11 so much.

B10 LE RULES!!! I have mine piggy backed w/ a B4 Anorexic. Perfect combo for romping around in the woods :)

The Basic 10le is a great lade for sure. Tha fact that B9 was tan made it hard to resist. The blade measures 10" and oal 15 1/8"
Pretty similar to a B10. Can't wait to get pants for it!

I like my Dogfather, never put hands on the Basic 10. But I can't say enough good things about the Dogfather.
