This is not a knock against the custom kydex or leather makers out there.
There are times when someone may want or need a cheap sheath which still gets the job done. I wanted to share something I found which seems to be working okay so far.
My Basic 4 LE needed a sheath. Granted, the tactical mesh wrap and cardboard was working, but it wasn't very gear-friendly. I had one of these sheathes laying around, and just remembered I had it. It's known as a CMU-33 sheath, designed as part of a survival kit for pilots. It has a full MOLLE back, a leather inset (very similar to the standard leather sheath for the Camillus Air Force knife), and the flap can completely cover the knife to protect it from snagging, or from other folks who may not be comfortable around knives. A quick google search should put one in your hands in new condition for about $25.
