hi,,
now that people have the basic 6's in hand, whats the consensus?? awesome,,,so so,,should have got a boss jack,etc,etc....:D

I haven't really gotten a chance to use mine yet, but here are my first impressions:
1. It's beautiful
2. It's shaving sharp
3. The ricasso is longer than any other knife I've seen from Busse
4. I anticipate it will be a very effective chopper (for a 6 inch blade)
5. I can't wait to take it to Ansel Adams Wilderness in October!

I like it, wide blade, beefy handle, sharp as fugde, the blade is angled so you get er dones better, its sharp, it infi, Im drunk, its sharp, lifetime guarentee. Resc C, Satin INFI, Ive not used it yet so really Im just talking out my buttski. I really like it.

I'm drunker... but I don't have one. Day-umm..

Got mine friday, before drunk, Awesome feel, crazy sharp, better then expected as always with Busse, After drunk, Awesome feel, crazy sharp, better then expected as always with Busse. Time to drink, Its 12:00 somewhere!

I love everything about it except the convex near the tip is not even on one side. It is sharp though and a great size for camping and hunting.

I was drunk a day before yesterday, but I've got my B6 today....:D

I really like it for the first touch, the only thing I still try to figure out is the monster ricasso.

It just places the cutting edge too far. however it can inspire different grips around the choil...
what do you think 'bout it?

I think it's purpose (and this is speculation) is to increase chopping effectiveness by creating more leverage. I looked at pictures of the other knives in the Basic line, and they all have that long ricasso.

So would you say that the B6 and 511 actual cutting edge are the same length if you line them up at the end of their choils?

Lining them at the end of the choils, the B6 is about 1mm longer than the 511.
But gosh does the B6 feel much wider and larger than the 511 in hand. The black coating of my 511 probably contributed to its sleeker look..

Hmmm...yep, I think the new Basics are a little awkward looking with the giant ricasso. I really liked the Basic 7, but I don't think there is a way to have a large choil without a large ricasso.
Plan to get a Basic 8 when available regardless.

Anyone compare the B 6 to the Swamprat Camp tramp?

From some pictures I've seen they look very similar.

Tramp is a full inch longer, is thicker and has a saber grind. The Basic 6 feels considerably smaller in the hand.

Part of the reason for the large ricasso is that the handle material does not overlap into the ricasso like it does with G10 or Micarta scales.

But that said, the blade shape design could easily have made the ricasso much smaller and still preserve the trademark Busse look. It is somewhat wasted space, but it does offer a larger area to hold onto when you choke up the blade grip.

Mine arrived here today....best I can describe it is...well...just after I unwrapped it and removed the sleeve....I held it for a moment and felt the urge to have a cigarette....and I don't smoke.....

I'll light one up for you. Gotta do something to stay awake.
