here is a picture of a basic 7 dive knife. i was told a batch of these were made up for a navy seal team a few years ago. very sharp and agressive blade. this is the first basic i have held and it is awesome! wonder why the basic line was discontinued? somebody should make a line of knives like this again!

Great looking knife. Where oh where do you find these things? :D:D

Gotta love those Resiprene C handles ;):D

Ya know I love the hell outa the way that knife looks, but I cant figure out exactly the function of those serrations?Do the angle of the serr have anything to do with a specific task?Do these serrations cutt better,or perform more of a shearing effect? Also do the SF guys specifically request these serr's or are they applied for fun? Jerry?

Marsupial - the forward "canted" serrations are great for chopping as they don't bind as the more typical backward canted serrations. Additionally they are better for thrusting forward and have very impressiver performance results against rope, hemp, fabric, leather, etc.

I have personally used these types of serrations and are very impressed. I hope Skunk can report back to us how he likes the performance of this knife! It certainly looks great and has quite a history.

Skunk, another great find - congratulations! Frankly, I think you are making the "1Whobuys" look more like, the "1WhoBought"......!

andrew, from the looks of some of the fish marc has posted on here i think the fully serrated american kensi would work much better!

maybe busse will make a batch of new knives for desert storm if we do it again?

Another very nice grab. That's the first basic that has really turned me on:D

If you ever tire of her company drop me a line:D

Idaho,
Wild looking knife!! I have to get me one of them
metal detectors with the INFI switch on it!!:D Congrats

Hey someone was selling one of those recently on BF, I forgot who
bought it though. Another nice score Skunk.

I think I bought the one you are refering to. Only it is a B9 that WTF had special ordered from Jerry with the very decorative and yet very effective teeth :D

Hi.

Those are not SEAL knives. Unless Jerry made more. They were special ordered for me from Andy Prisco, and Jerry made them for me a while ago. Only the Basic #7 and #9 exist that are fully serrated. The serrations are very effective.

utmts4me, glad to see your are using it.

Nice find Mr Skunk. I hadn't seen that knife in a while. She looks good! Take care and enjoy!

yes i am aware of Prisco and some of his dealings. you may be right about the ones you ordered and this may be one of those two. but i heard there were a batch of 7's made for a seal team also.

maybe jerry or marc will comment on this when they sober up.

Interesting looking pattern, but the spacing seems irregular on both knives. Is this intentional for some reason, or just the result of variance in hand grinding?

-Cliff

Cliff - it is the result of too much CBL - remember, you should not "drink and grind" ! ;)

i was told that when the serrations are equally spaced that harmonic vibrations will destroy the blade. these high freq vibs cause hairline fractures causing future catastrophic blade failure.

by making just a few of these serrations uneven it will stop harmonic vibs and will greatly lengthen the life of the blade.

The first two I made with these teeth were for WTF. He gave the Basic 9 a New York welcome. . . . In other words, he kicked it's butt!!!

We did send a batch of Basic 7's with full serrations out for testing. The ground troops loved these blades and the underwater boys were not as excited about them and preferred the standard edge instead.

They are awesome performers,

Maybe WTF can elaborate on his testing.

Thanks,

Jerry

thanks jerry! what can you tell me about the hunter i posted pics of a few threads back? looks to be 1/8" of something. remember it at all?
