I just scored an unused Basic 7 and need some user or safe queen pics to hold me over until it arrives.
What are your thoughts on this one....trail use, camping, fishing...etc...

Thanks in advance

Tom

it's one of the most jack of all trades knives busse has ever produced.

-It's small enough to comfortably carry on a belt
-It's lighter than comparable exposed tang models
-It's got enough length that batoning is easy even on larger rounds
-It's heavy enough to do light chopping, but not so heavy that it will wear you out
-Being light weight and having an enclosed tang, it has a better balance than if it had an exposed tang (which would draw the weight towards the handle)
-M-infi is similar to infi (you won't be able to tell the difference in use)
-The reciprene-c handles are better for cold weather climates, allowing you to work without gloves
-Reciprene-c reduces shock transmission compared to an exposed tang.

That said, it's not heavy enough to chop easily and it's not small enough to edc in town for most people. It's great at what it's designed to be, a one knife does all single carry option.

Trail/camp use -- lightweight for its size, bull strong, great do-it-all knife in combination with a mid-size folder to cover the full scope of camp chores, not a filet knife but can certainly prepare any fish too big for your folder ;) ;

Superb general-use knife. The Camp Tramp from Swamp Rat Knife works was based on it (although the Rat frankly surpassed it in terms of balance for chopping and better factory edge geometry). With a little thinning of the overly-robust edge----and it IS overly robust; INFI doesn't need that kind of geometry to be insanely tough----you'll have a heavy duty outdoor knife that doesn't weigh you down and is capable of doing just about anything an outdoor knife ever needs to do. Pair it with a Mora or some other smaller blade for the intricate work and you'll be geared for just about everything. I can take some pics but they'll have to be later as I don't have one here at work. :)

LVC and Will pretty well described it, a great all around camp knife !

Did you score a smooth or crinkle coat version ?
