Hi folks,

I recently acquired an older Basic 9 with box, copyright date 1999. When compared to a more recent example, there are several differences.

1) Smooth coating on old knife, crinkle finish on newer.
2) Choil on old knife smaller in radius
3) Old knife longer by 1/16”
4) Talon hole on new knife more chamfered.

Is there any collectibility to these older knives, or should I bring it on the next woods trip? Thanks!

🤔
I'd use the crinkle coated one first, keep the smooth coat for collection/backup spare.
If you were to beat the snot out of one & wanted it re-coated by Busse, it would be crinkle coated. Just a thought... 🙂
Nice score! 👍👍

Love the B9! There even more variations than you have, starting with the asymmetric edge versions. Years ago there was a great post by someone who had quite a collection of B9.

Gravelface Gravelface was that you?

Not me, .....I think the most I had a any particular point was 3 B9s...

I think.......

I think that was Ragnerok who posted those pics. He had a phenomenal basic collection - including all the sage ones. I was pretty sad to see him sell them all, but managed to grab my EU 17 mag from him.
