Basic 9 ???

Picked up a Basic 9 and a Basic 7 this weekend. Noticed that the 9 has the old style edge vs. the convex on the 7. Any ideas as to why or how rare this may be? Compared to my straight handled BM the blade is not nearly as wide and has a nice feel to it. Just a curiousity question really. I personnally like the old style better anyway.

I'm not sure. I've got some older and newer 7s and 9s, and they all have had the asymmetric edge.

Some Basic 9s were special ordered with a standard edge. There were not very many like this and it may be one of these. However, if the knife you purchased is used , it may have been reprofiled or sharpened by its previous owner. I hope this helps,

Thanks Jerry. I got it from your niece at the Indy 1500 show at your booth

I saw that basic 9 at the show. I had to look twice to make sure I was seeing it right. The new "crinkle" coating looks very cool on the basic series.
