I just snagged myself user off ebay, what were their original price and did they come with a sheath? Ive seen both kydex and a leather one in pics.

I think they retailed for smething like $258 if I remember. But it is all foggy memory from heavy drinking since then.

Great snag though. That is one of the most underrated Busses ever. It is nearly as good as the Battlemistress and nearly half the cost these days. When it came out at the time it retailed for only 100 less than the BM, so that may be the reason for low sales, but it is INFI with a little less of something in it. It is a kick azz blade with Kickazz steel. Basically a rubber handled BM is what you got.

Great snag. Ithink you could sell it for about $100. If you wanna sell it let me know I'll be more than happy to take it for $100 as we talked about:thumbup:

I am fairly sure the retail price was $286 for a Basic 9, and there were a good number of dealers that sold it for an average price of $224 (this comes from prices I collected not too long before the Basics were discontinued).

The Basics originally came with a rubber handle compared to the micarta on yours. The earlier ones had a smooth finish and leather sheath, and the later ones had the crinkle finish and cordura sheath with kydex liner. Different style kydex sheaths were also available, I think for both the smooth and crinkle finish varieties (I am not exactly sure though when the kydex sheaths were available). The Basic 9 was my first Busse, and I liked it so much that I got the other Basics too. The Basics are great knives; I hope you enjoy yours!

Well I promised myself I wouldnt buy anything until the last knife I ordered came in but 150 was to good to let this user pass by.

Hamguy has a drop leg sheath for a B9 for sale on the exchange or at least he did. Go check it out.

Yup saw that, Im not sure what a drop leg sheath looks like but this one comes with original leather sheath. Ill have to go and find a pic of the drop leg one. Thanks for the heads up though.

Id probably buy it if it fit a Rat Daddy but I dont think it does the two blades seem to different around the handle area. Thanks for the pic.

The blade on a Rat Daddy is too long anyway. The handle wouldn't even make it to lock up. The RD is a much bigger knife. I'll have to lay my BR and RD side by side to illustrate. Don't have time to snap the pic right now though.

I SAID $258 and I meant it. Who's ever heard of 286, that doesn't even sound right. I know that it ended in 8. So either 258 or 278. Not 286, no not 286, really not 286. I just had to say that. :jerkit: :jerkit: cuz I got nothing else to do this AM.

Cobalt, this is from Badmojo: " Basic # 9 $286"
Of course, the price might have risen after it was initially offered.

well, they don't call it Badmojo for nothing...

"The Basics come in four sizes: #3, #5, and #7 with 3, 5, and 7 inch blades respectively. The #9 has a 9 1/2 inch blade. Handles are molded rubber (the two smaller knives and two larger ones share the same handles) with a brass hollow rivit for a lanyard hole. The smaller blades are coated, but the big one is polished steel. The edge is ground assimetrically, with most of the grind on one side and only a short grind on the other, not quite a chisel grind. The standard Kydex sheath is able to be configured in a multitude of ways, depending upon how you like to carry. Pricing is $138, $178, $218, $258 respectively. Street prices will likely be a bit less and deliveries are expected to begin in a few months."

but they probably did change at some point. I originally stated 258 and I am sure that is what they went for originally. Later on I thought they might have gone up to 278, but I never remember them being advertised for 286 but it may have been, who knows.

Well I got it in the mail today. It sure is beat up and not sharp at all but I will still have fun and learn with it.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6583476948learn from it.
Congrats. Yes, you will learn a lot more with a beat up knife than a safe queen. You'll how to sharpen and see what she can do. Then if you ever need to use or sharpen a nice knife you'll know how far you can push it or how to sharpen without scratching the heck out of it.
