I notice that a often take my cold steel trailmaster on hikes...
After thinking it over I came to these conclusions:
- A blade around 9 inch (max) is the right size (for me)
- The blade must be thick enough (.25 inch +) and full flat grind (good)
- I like the full tang design
- I like the cushioned handle (res-c is good )

I think Busse should re-release the basic 9... I would buy two straight out !
Who would like to see the basic line revisited ?

Well I would second that motion, even though I have yet to receive my Basic 11 yet, but I do love the looks and design of the Basic line for the purposes of Hiking and Camping. Just my 2c. Hope you can hear us BossMan, it would be AWESOME to see these return to the line up, but until then I will be stalking the forums in search of the completion of my Basic Collection!!

I had the Trailmaster in San MaiIII for years. I sold it after getting my first battle mistress. The weight savings of the Trail master was significant.

Now that the basic 11 is here, I am happy as a clam in wet sand! Light, and still chops out of proportion to its weight.

I think a Basic 9 re release would do well.

Maybe a little taller blade from edge to spine. With a non sharpened clip.

This thread needs pics!

I'm with you on these points. ;)
I like my CGDF but I would really like to have a B9.
The Basic handle on my Mutt is small but very comfortable.

The price point on the Dogfather is sweet too. It will, however be heavier than the Basic 9.

I like the blade height on the Dogfather too.

While all good ides, keep in mind the boss man said that the handle shapes are gone for good, and none of the basic series will be revisited.

Granted maybe in the future they will do another Res-C run, but it will not be in the same style. If the rats and dogs limited editions came in infi that would be awesome as well. But they do, you have to go to the shows, or get a proxy for one. Also there are Ganzas.
