One of the things I have always looked for in a knife is blade heft and a feel of heavier blade than handle design. This is one of the things I have always enjoyed with my #5 is the cut down tang. While many may argue this sacrifices strength,(which in many ways it can)it also lends lends in my mind a more efficient chopper, and a quicker blade that falls with more punch. When lifting any basic I have noticed a floating appeal not quiet as present in my CG's.This allows the blade to be wielded to me in a more efficient manner.I was having some problems with my badger and NO (still love em both)in that I was having a oneness feel in the blade and handle, although the tip is of course heavier it still fell backwards somewhat when chopping.I quickly noticed the difference in my SH which is blade heavier than handle due to length.I have talked with those who feel that a heavier handle than blade is the better choice and this may be the case for some folks, but still I get back to that float appeal my basic has.My question is this, and it might be more properly directed at Contender, but would Busse ever consider a cut down tang on some of their knives either as an option or as a variant?I feel that not only might this quicken the blade but also might fit smaller hand sizes. Also it seems that in a weakened hand for whatever reason a heavier blade than handle could be lopped or dropped while still in the hand with greater efficiency and devastating results when a last ditch effort with little strength was required.Anyone else have any thoughts on this?
