Basic Blade Care?

What are some good basic blade maintance materials that i should get for my knife like rust remover and a protector.

Right now i have 3 and 1 oil and WD40 but i want a rust remover... should i just use mineral oil with steel wool or what?
 
you can try some mag polish to remove rust or navel jelly. what you got right now will probally not remove the rust.
 
Nothing like some good old fashioned elbow grease and a healthy dose of search feature. ;)
 
Anybody try CLR (Calcium, Lime Rust)? I used it on some driver bits for my cordless drill....a slight rusting due to condensation from cold to hot temps. Seemed to work and then I coated them with BreakFree.

ive found clr sucks! PB blaster is a penetrating fluid, not a derusting fluid.
 
if you use steel wool to remove rust, use 0000 since its the finest you can get and will not scratch. it works well for removing light rust on guns since it wont hurt the blue.
