Basic customs, Entrek, Greco, Mineral mountain etc.

I am wondering what folks think and how you compare the basic, working man's custom knife (Entrek, Greco, Mineral mountain etc)
How the knives from the various makers handle overall, and are there other brands you'd recommend. I know most owners of these knives like them, but I haven't really seen a comparative post, Also, which other makers should be included in the this bunch. Please note, that I do not wish to add Newt Livesay to this list because his knives don't seem to be as plentiful as the ones I've listed, which seem to be more available on the various dealer's websites.

well I have had at least one blade from all the makers you mentioned(including Livesay ). I'd say they are all really great knives. Unless you have to have stainless steel(Entrek, I'd say grab whichever model feels the best in your hand. All of the makers carry a nice selection of models so your choices are many. Have fun with choosing Heck at the prices these guys charge grab one from each

I agree that all these makers do fine work and that you should do yourself a favour and check out Bill Siegle's knives. There are two on his site that I especially like; the Purple Tanto and the Ranger.

Newt is working at getting back on his feet after some very bad times and ordering from him will require that you show patience. For those prepared to wait, you will get a very good knife for an excellent price.

I'd like to add Bill Siegle to this list. I have had all the ones listed as well as Bill's work and all have never fail to preform as needed. Bill makes a great knife at a great price. His 5160 is hard to beat for durability. I have four of his knives and love them all.

The Entrek Brute is a great knife, the Livesay HKR is hard to beat in it's D2 configuration and the Greco La Duena will chop and chop until your arm falls off and the MMHW bowies are something that you could stake your like on in a survival situation.
