I am looking for a primer on knifes/blades, I am not looking for info on how to build a knife/blade, rather, what to look for and what to stay away from, and why. I am doing some research and I am aware that different uses have different requirements, but what are the things to look for/look-out for when choosing from the large selection of knifes/blades out there. My uses may range from a plain old pocket/utility knife to a large knife for "survival" type applications to a folding fighting style to a fixed fighting style knife.
Any information along these lines would be helpful to not only myself but a large number of other people. With prices of knifes/blades running from $1-2 dollars to several thousand dollars, you want to make sure you are getting the best "bang" for your money.
