Hello, I'm just your run of mill knife collector with a question about a bucklite I have. It's stamp is a 426 with what looks like a > with a dot in the center right after the 6. What's the significance of this?

Yes, that's true but only partly. The > symbol means it was mfg. in 1987. So, has 425M steel. With the dot added, it speaks of some internal change which occurred with the knife, lock or blade steel. Which even Buck's 25yr. employees are not sure what it notes. (Dec. 2005 newsletter) Thus, that part will remain a mystery. An oddity. Welcome, DM

As far as I know, it refers to the age of the blade.

The Symbol > is the year it was made... But with the dot... They did some Kind
of change to the knife... Like David said... Well that's what a few friends
told me that worked for Buck or used too...

Here's two 422 Bucklites that have a dot or more... This green one looks to have
2 dots before the 112 > and than one more dot after the year mark on the blade...

Here's a clear 422 with a 112 < dot blade ...

I have others models too...
