What are the basic tools & supplies needed for making heavy leather sheaths by hand? Thanks.

The absolute minimum basic list would be a knife suitable for cutting the leather, an awl to punch the stitch holes, couple of needles, some thread and an adhesive like contact cement or similar and leather, of course.

Paul

Thanks.

If the budget would allow I'd add a stitching groover and a #2 edger to Paul's list.

I would suggest making a couple bic light covers or a few slips for traditionals first to get the hang of sewing. It will help the end product turn out better.

As a side note. You might want to avoid crome-tan leathers. It's not good against steel. Veg-tan is safe for sheaths.
