I love one handed openers, they make life so easy. If someone took their switch blade apart, Id like to know the basics, basic components that go into it.

And if you could, give me a picture or two!

I think you will need more then diagrams if your going to do this to a United Cutlery Piece.

Well for one thing what you are proposing to do is not exactly easy. What most people don't think of is that the hard part is getting the blade to sit correctly after the conversion and getting the blade to also lock up correctly. Now after taking in all these factors and deciding to attempt this(Most custom makers won't do conversions because of the difficulty involved)why would you want to try this on a UC POS? At least practice on something with a stronger frame.
Bob

Strider,
what knife would you suggest me try this on(under th $50 dolar range) that has a very strong frame?

PS: whats a UC POS

I do agree whith you about the stronger frame considering its plastic

UC POS= United Cultery Piece Of $h!t.

Can't think of a knife that's a good one to try to convert, but I would say you might want to buy one of those cheap POS automatics on bladeauction. This way you can see what makes it tick. Good luck.

On second thought if I could make one from scratch, that might be easier, but, hmmmmm~where could I find a good inexpencive blade that would fit the 2 1/2-3 1/2" range that could hold a good edge

Id better start looking

any suggestions

Then again, does any one know where to buy a kit (I don't have a belt sander or else I'd make my own blade,

any suggestions)

should I start another forum?

Making a fixedblade knife for the first time is not an easy thing to do. Making a folder for the first time is even harder then a fixedblade. Now you want to make a switchblade for your first time. I'm not saying it can't be done but I wouldn't want to try it till I had some experiance under my belt. Why don't you go over to the shopforum here and pose these questions. There are some of the finest knifemakers around that hang out over there and will answer your technical questions if you are sincere in your endeavors.
Bob

I am trying to convince Mikov managers to start selling their "kits" again. You might also try to take apart the wood handled one (I think it is easier than with the plastic handled version) and then assemble it again. Let me know if I can help you.

Not to take any sides here, but I think anyone who posts wizzing monkeys shouldn't be playing with switchblades. The statement above already indicates some folks have problems following directions.

Sorry if anyone thinks I'm out of line. Email me if you have a problem with my comment.

Closing this one. Not with the purpose of taking the air out of a new person's question, just do not see much of a relationship to Custom knives.
