I finished up this bold, basket weave patterned, fighter/bowie with a smaller companion (for the more delicate jobs) last week. They both ride together in the same sheath.
Bowie oal- 13 3/8" w/ 8 3/8" blade and a 4" clip, the ringed guard and pommel are 1084, cold blued. The handle is sheep horn with sheep horn spacers coming off the guard.
Companions oal- 7" w/ 3" blade, the scales are sheep horn with nickel/silver pins. The blades were both made from the same billet and 1080 & 15n20 was the steel used.

Thanks,

Bill

Nice pair, my friend! :) Handle furniture on the bowie is cool. Steel is very, very nice. I like it, a neat idea! Nice work, as always.

Thanks all for the compliments, the pair feel really good in the hand, the ringed bowie is so comfortable. the big thumb guard on top gives great support for thusting and the ring makes the bowie impossible to slip out of your hand when pulling back. Its cool to twirl it like a revolver too. :D The companion lays in the hand so nicely that you can use it with little effort when gripping.

Thanks again,

Bill

Bill, That's a very cool idea, executed beautifully. A sweet all-in-one-package big/little piggyback combo, which is a personal favorite of mine. That little fella looks to be super-useful. The flow of the ring guard on the big one is right on the money. The darker spacer plus blued guard & butt really set off the lighter-colored handle material nicely. And that basketweave damascus is gorgeous. 'Scuse me while I step outside to catch my breath which that set took away. :)

Very nice Bill! It's great to see a set like that with the same patterned steel and to see them done so well. :)

Thanks everyone for the great compliments, it sure helps to get the juices going to try and come up with something new and unique. I wish I had a better ability to take pictures, because this pattern, blade shapes and the handle materials look so much better in person.

Thank you all for the nice words, they truly do mean a lot.

Truely beautiful work there Bill. I love the guard and I know I'd be twirling that sucker like mad if I could get my hands on it. Great set.

When I see damascus this good I don't know weather to be impressed inspired or just give up.
Fantastic job thanks for posting.

Alright -- I've got to get up to the shop to see some of this stuff in person!

Bill, that is mighty fine work there, and the leather, too! I have never done one of those "partner" knife sets, and your set really fires me up on doing a set some day. Yes sir, I enjoy seeing work like that!
