I got a big $50 card for BPS from my younger son. I made my second trek to the new one near here in Leeds (Birmingham), AL. Interesting store... they obviously have a lot of overhead to make up in sales. I went immediately to the knife section - again - same as my other trip. I got my BPS 110 (154CM steel) then - wanted the 194BR this time (Fixed Alpha hunter - same steel - rosewood scales.). It was $90! Boy, it must have gone up. I looked at the bone 119, etc... not that nice. That leather handled Bowie... not for me. The 'RedHead' special - stag handled - looked neat... not $120 neat, however. I elected to get the 102BR in cherrywood (Everyone needs a spare - neat woods knife!) - $60 - couldn't find it.

I searched row by row - they were out of lots of stuff - everything I wanted. Ammo was sparse, reloading supplies unreal - ~$5/tray of 100 primers! No mags or speedloaders I could use, either. Camping supplies? Our local 'yuppee outfitters' is cheaper - and has neater Back to the knife-section... they couldn't find duplicate knives or boxes for the display items I was considering. had both for the Bowie, of course. Christmas must have cleaned them out... not! It took the better part of an hour for them to find the new BP110 a month ago when I bought it - they were in the back - blamed it on the store just opening. Those huge drawers out front were and still are a nightmare! I may order a 102BR from them - and pay s/t and s/h...yippee!

Well, it's nice to be able to see something 'special' - like those bone handled Bucks - without having to buy them. They really looked a bit too aged/distressed. The leather handle on the Bowie wasn't impressive, either. My recent 850 Bravo experience had made me a bit apprehensive about other such 'new adventures'. No Buck/Simonich Legacy Raven - that might have gotten my interest up. My wife has a friend at work who loves the place - she and her boyfriend camp a lot. Hmmm, such a deal on a card...

Anyone buy from local BP Stores?

Stainz,

Got the same problem with Cabela's. The built a new store down by Portland and couldn't get the sales tax exemption from the People's Republic of Maine so I get stuck S&H and 6% sales tax or a 45 mile drive one way.

The store and people working there are good however. The knife counter and the guys behind it were squared away. But I find Cabelas to be a superior operation to BP in all respects. The didn't have a stag AG though which is what I went to look at so I ended up with a D2 Grip.

Anyway, hopefully Cabelas will order another run of AG110s in Stag.

When I was at this same Cabelas store, they didn't have the 110 Pro Line in stock. To satisfy my urge, I picked up another regular 110AG.
As far as Bass Pro goes, I asked about the bowie, but the clerk (Clarksville,IN store) had never heard of it. I had too much stuff to buy that day anyhow.

I also got a 50 dollar card from bass pro, I used it to get 105. the total with tax was 53 dollars and some change.

I've figured out my real problem. I didn't get my Wally-World 'Christmas Collector Tin Buck'. Yep, regular price - or closeout priced after Christmas - such a deal! Of course, there wasn't one this year... sigh. Then, to go to Bass Pro and see everything higher priced... made me sad. I'll go back... maybe this AM... gotta get something by year's end... leave next year's quota-o-Bucks untouched.

Happy New Year, everyone!

John

A couple of days ago I sent an email to Cabelas and told them how disappointed I was that the Stag AG was not longer available and that I had gone to their Maine store specifically to look at that knife a few months ago but no luck.

I also mentioned that since their D2 Grip was such a hot seller they should consider asking Buck to do a D2 110 for them and I'd be first in line for that one.

I got a very nice reply that promised to forward my two requests to the appropriate people. Maybe its a little seed that will grow, who knows but worth a shot.

May I suggest to any/all of you that would like to see either the Stag AG brought back or a D2 110 go to there website and use the "Contact Us" to send an email message to that effect.

Well, a return trip to B P S got me a 'cherrywood' 105BR for my $50 card and $16 from the wallet. Absolutely nothing else I wanted... sigh! I got home - great shaver. Compared it to my 'regular' 105BR - a year earlier (arrow up on new one - down on previous one) - also a shaver. Maybe a slight grade more pink on the 'cherrywood' one - same grain pattern. Ho Hum. They look identical. I wanted a 'user' 105 - and now I have a pretty one. It seems so pointless - I should just use and display one knife - I am acquiring 'too much stuff'!! Still, I do like the 105... maybe a return trip in a week or so...

I think I'll ask that future gift cards from my kids come from Publix (Grocers)... then I could get food... ice cream... more pop... cat litter...

That presents a real problem, and I feel your pain, so I'm fixin' ta help ya out! Send me either one of those 105's, and I'll EDC it for a year or so. Then when I send it back it'll be used enough that you'll be able keep it on your belt instead of in the safe. That way, you get a user and a looker. See, problem solved. Cheeze, I'm really a nice guy.

Bet it went to the knowledgeable guys that helped John out at the Reno store with his 110AG ;)

At first I was gonna type here that I'm selfish...hope they don't get anymore. But then I realized I love you guys.

Goose,

I figured that email has a very low chance of being read by anyone that matters in the "Let's order another 1000 Stag AG110's from Buck" decision tree.

btw, Big John ran into a Stag AG110 at the Lacey store but told me the stag was unimpressive. But the price was only $129 which is a good price even for a bland set of stag. He passed on it.

I ate my breakfast this AM with the usual fun/nice crowd - and drove the few miles to the B P Store. The two 105s looked identical - the new one's box did have the CW in the model number - but sure looked like RW to me. Duplicate 110s makes sense - not so much with some other Bucks. The gal at BPS said no problemo, she just couldn't give it all back as cash, so the $50 card became cash and my $16.00 cash became a new gift card! I told her that was backwards, but she countered that it didn't matter - she couldn't undo it. I'll take my wife to lunch one day at their sandwich shop on that big $16 card.

A stop at the local WallyWorld got me a couple of mini-bricks of .22 ammo - and I was able to help a couple buy his 40yr old bro a new special knife as a gift, despite the clerk's insistence that they didn't have them. Oddly, there was a long and big Buck box in their drawer with the #61 on it - which corresponded with the $25 Buck 110 on their display. They loved it - and were told they had to pay for it there, but couldn't check out since that station had no scales. The couple was nice, I wasn't... I told her everything in their buggy was pre-packed and marked. They checked out there - and while several feet from the register, and out of earshot, I asked her why she didn't treat folks the way she'd like to be treated. Her reply - or what I heard - was 'I'm sorry!'.

Where do stores get these folks? B P or Wally World, they are so similar. It was ~11 AM - no traffic - torrential rains outside. If I had that attitude as a college instructor, I wouldn't have ever earned tenure. Of course, after earning tenure, it'd take an unusual act with a different species on the president's desk to get any notice, so that's not a great example... but really, what's with folks these days??

Anyway, another convert to the 110... a plus, for sure.

My daughter today searched at the BP in Denver attempting to locate a BP 110 w/ 154CPM blade. The clerk told her they were out of that knife. DM

Dumb question here,,, what is the "CW and "RW"? Thanks, Snotwad

I think the handles in the xyzBR, like my old 105BR, are RW - rosewood. BPS heralds the 105 I bought from them as CW - cherry wood - and only available from them. Both looked like similar stained beech/birch wood. I guess the white bone handled one would really have been different. Hmmmm - and it has a burgundy sheath...

Nope - BPS is off my visitation sched for a while.
