Has anyone bought one of these Bass Pro Shops Fisherman's Tool?
It looks just like a Leatherman Wave and it's only $9.99

I wonder who is making it?
I wonder what Leatherman thinks about it?

I think it looks to much like a Leatherman Wave.
I emailed Leatherman asking about it. Will see what they have to say about it if anything.

The word from Leathman on this is it's definitely a copy. It's not made by or for Leatherman. It may violate there patent rights as well.

I hope Leatherman can put a stop to who ever is making these.

Gotta remember - it was a cheap POS Leatherman-like knock-off that saved that Colorado mountain climber's life!!! Even dull as s**t, it still got the job done!

It's great that the guy saved his life, but I still don't like copies.

It would be interesting to know if that guy would buy another POS copy again or if he thinks he could use something better now.

Hey, no offense meant... I'm not thrilled with the idea of someone's idea and work being ripped off... and we've had a bunch of threads on this very topic lately...

That being said, I agree with your sentiment - would this same individual rethink his valuation of the equipment he carries?

I mean, I've climbed for years, although with no where near the extremeties nor challenges he has, for sure, but I always figured my life is on the line (no pun intended if you've ever found yourself suspended 300' from the valley floor with nothing but a thin nylon line and some small pieces of metal between you and eternity! ) and I always spent the best figuring 911 wasn't an option... To figure that you've invested upwards of $1000 on climbing gear, camping gear and the transportation to get you there... why stop with the "free knife you get when you buy a flashlight"?

Oh well,at least he's a live example... instead of the dead ones we usually here about when the critical tool fails!
