My axe addiction is in full force. Just picked up these 'new old stock' Johnson mill bastard files on the 'bay. They are wicked nice and "bitey".

Oh and I also picked up a TTKP for $15.

I also picked these up recently from a local antique shop. Plan on getting more. I just find the quality of newer bastard files (Nicholson in particular) is poor.

excellent , i always look for old files in junk stores and second hand shops. probably have 40lbs. of files and rasps i've made a few Puukko blades from them.

excellent True Temper axe. a real bargain for $15.

all good

I also keep an eye out for old rasps and files. The last few trip to local flea market I picked up a few each time for a buck or two a piece. I got an old 4 in 1 rasp an inch and a half wide, half inch thick and 18 inches long. nothing else it may end up in a tomahawk, but it still cuts good.

Cleaned up that TTKP last night. It has a really nice bit profile left though I think this one is a later version than the others I have. Anyone know what dates the TTKP's were made?

I bought one on Ebay a while back, it is just stamped true temper. I paid 15 bucks. The quality is fairly poor. Steel is too hard, the bit is not shaped very well and the poll to bit ratio is bad. If it doesnt say kelly perfect on it, might be wise to give it a miss.

don't waste your money if it's made by  "WEAR SAFETY GLASSES" Inc. , ... i've looked all over the net and can find no information about this company. they manufacture about every striking tool on this planet but have no web site whatsoever;)
