I saw a pair of these in the "Lucy" movie this past weekend. They were used by the lovely and kickass Scarlett Johansson.

Made in Italy by LionSteel. 5.6" D2 (Bohler K110) tool steel that's 0.16" thick. The full tang ends with a bone crusher pommel.

I kind of like these (along with Scarlett). Thanks for the introduction RamZar.

So I was looking into them a bit and I see there is also a very similar GT6 model. It looks to me that the main differences between the two blades is that the GT6's have a blade coating and possibly jimping or serrations near to the top front of the blade whereas the "L" model has no blade coating and what looks like a false edge or similar grind in place of the forward jimping or serrations. Am I in the ball park? The descriptions I see for the knives don't give a lot of detail other than the usual materials/dimensions etc. Any other differences, major or minor? I think I lean toward the "L" model. Thank you. Mike

In the film we can see the raptor L the "light" version of the raptor. In D2 steel 26cm 173g.

Thank you Gaulois Power. I appreciate it. The video shows the knife in more detail (it would probably help if I could understand French also).

I looked more closely at the specifications that Blade HQ has for the L and GT6 models. As you state the L model is a bit lighter. I would guess this is from the false edge type grind on the model? Also, the blade is about 3mm longer and the handle 3mm shorter on the L model according to the specifications.

Long story short, a beautiful knife, it's very late, my resistance is low, and I ordered one from Blade HQ. Mike

If you have some question i can try to translate if you need. But if you have ordered onen I think you have no more questions !

I'm going in the opposite direction with my fondness for small under 3" fixed blade knives will get one of the new BB Drago Claw Champi knives. The blade steel is N690CO with a length of 1.75" and 0.12" thick. Right now, only the black blade / black micarta and satin blade / light green micarta are available but I'd like to get the wood handle. I think these small N690 fix blade knives are made by Fox not LionSteel but I could be wrong.

Thank you for the offer to translate Gaulois Power. If i do have more questions, I will let you know. I am curious about the reasons for the small changes between the GT6 and L models. Wondering if the L model was made specifically for the movie.

The BB Drago Claw Champi knives are interesting also. Unfortunately (for my pocket book), I tend to go in both directions (with knives, that is). The larger knives can be a lot of fun but the smaller knives often have more everyday practical use. Mike

Checked with Bastien of Bastinelli Creations and the BB Drago Claw is made by Viper. So, he has his knives all made in Magiano by LionSteel, Fox and Viper.

Hi Mike,
I got it - it has a jimping at the front of the Blade. Bastien and Lionsteel did a fantastic Job - Fits perfect to my Hands - and yes it has a thinner Blade and not like most US Knifes something in the 4-6 mm Area. Just as a side notice: The Kydex is made by Bastien - and a very simple one - I got a tight fit one but what I heard in the German Forums some are Sheats are "Collector"optimized (or in short very loose (right word?) to avoid Kydex Scratches on the Knife) The Forummember with the loose one contacted Bastien and got with no discussion or complain a tight one - Just that you know

Andi

Thank you for the good information Andi, I appreciate it. This sounds like it will be a great knife. Mine is supposed to arrive this Saturday. Though I always enjoy the big chopper type of blades just for fun, more and more, I find my thinner, slicier, blades easier to use and more appropriate and satisfying for my everyday needs. Though not designed for it, it seems like this blade could work pretty well in the kitchen - depending on the ergonomics of the blade and handle positioning.

Thanks for the heads up on the sheath design. I don't mind the sheaths being a bit loose (yes, you used the correct word) if the knife doesn't rattle around in it too much. I don't mind scratches on my blades if I put them there during use, but I'm a bit picky about scratches showing up caused by the sheath. A number of Kydex sheath makers now seem to be able to make good fitting sheaths that don't cause scratches. Thanks again Andi. Mike

The Raptor L arrived last Friday and I'm very happy with it. I very much like the overall design and the fit and finish are excellent (love those rounded polished corners on the handle). The whole project seems one of precision. It's very comfortable to hold in my medium size hands and also has an excellent, very clean, razor sharp edge. I think that the blade profile and reasonably thin cross section will make for a very useful blade with great slicing capabilities (even beyond Lucy's purposes:D). I can easily see this knife being used in the kitchen and for camping as well as fending off the bad guys. The simple Kydex sheath holds the knife securely. Excellent design from Bastinelli and superb manufacturing from LionSteel. Congratulations and thank you! Mike

Here are probably more blurry amateur photos than anyone wants to see.... The LionSteel logo on the bottom of the handle looks much better in person than in my photos - I apologize for that.

Congrats Mike157. I really like the thin profile overall and of the blade. Also, it has an attractive price point.

Any idea where one might look to find a double sheath like this? I've been searching for info about the knives/sheath from this movie for a while and had almost given up...have a suspicion something like this is probably custom made...

What I can see on the picture it isn't a one double sheath but two sheaths connected together by screws :)

yeah .. its actually 2 sheath held together with on top of each other via chicago screws. quite a task to put them back into the sheath without looking thou .. hehe

I have one of these knives but the holes on the sheath will not line up with my Tek Lok. Any idea what I can get (or do) instead that will fit it?
