I have been using bearing flippers for years now almost exclusively. The other day this showed up on blade hq and i placed my order almost instantly. The grip is the reason i wanted it. But i was also sick of flippers yet still loved bearing pivots. Its got everything i wanted and nothing i didnt like. The blade steel is german d2 which i hear is very nice. It has ikbs (captured) and can be flipped open with a thumb or flick of the finger in any position you can think of. Detent setup is perfect and the thumbstub works perfectly as a wave type opening device without actually having a wave. Super sharp convex edge and what i can only describe as perfect fit and finish and most of you know how picky i am about finishing. The deep carry clip worried me a bit as the knife completely disappears in the pocket but its effortless to remove.

Its funny i have seen many lionsteel knives in person and they have always been decent but combined with the impeccable design of bastinelli creations it sits a notch above imho. The grip is seriously the most comfy of any knife. It seems to scream use me. And its the first glassbreaker i have ever had that works with little to no effort. So do not drop it on anything glass.

Specs:
Blade material- d2
Handle - titanium frame w/g10 no liner g10 side
Blade length 3.75 inches
Handle 5 inches
Carbide glassbreaker
G10 backspacer
Ikbs pivot and ability to open when drawing
Deep carry pocket clip
4.2 ounces

Highs:
Super comfy ergos
Perfect fit and finish
Excellent opening options
Insanely sharp convex edge

Lows:
Deep carry clip may need more tension
May open on draw if you are not paying attention
Tiny amount of lock stick with hard opening but not remotely bad.

Thanks for the review. Ordered the dark stonewashed version a couple of hours ago. Should arrive in a few days.

I got mine this week, loving the knife. Does anyone knows if they use a special treatment on the titanium frame similar to hinderer and crk?

I have been especially pleased with all the Bastinelli designs both the Lion Steel and Fox made. My Dragotac Compact is a great user. Thanks for the review.

Nice review. Any lock stickiness?

Looks like a nice, smooth and real comfortable folder. Nice jimping on top. I like the black stonewashed since the titanium side has also been blackwashed and the hardware is black.

LionSteel uses Bohler K110 for their D2 out of Austria. "D2 produced with Bohler's cross-rolling technology that produces a fine, uniform grained steel. The best D2 available for hand knives."

I've had my RED folder for several weeks and absolutely love it as an edc blade. I haven't had any problems with it -- no blade play and no lock stick. In fact, it has outstanding fit & finish.

I can't get over the ergos because the small handle fits my big paws. And it's a light knife ... I don't notice it's there.

The OP mentioned a blade length that seems a bit longer than mine -- my RED folder blade length is only 3 3/8 inches long.

I usually stick with Spyderco, Emerson, Al Mar, and few other manufacturers. But I would definitely recommend this Bastinelli to anyone looking for a high-quality edc blade. I like it so much that it keeps kicking my rotation knives out of sequence.
