If anyone pays attention to my work, they may have realized that I often march to the beat of a different drummer.
This knife is another case in point:
I was wanting to make up a picnic knife with panache...I am not sure if this is the one I had in mind, but it is the one I have in hand.
I found some mini baseball bats, I had a Helle blade on hand, so during a bit of downtime last week, I made this one up.
Hidden tang construction. Stainless stick tang blade (by Helle) mini bat handle with red-white-and blue canvas bolster. The bolster has a flat "foot" to keep the knife from rolling away.
I flattened the blade spine (it had a slight upswept tip) to facilitate spreading PB&J as well as other condiments with the backside of the blade.
Use the sharp side to split open hamburger and hot dog buns. Also to make test cuts into steaks from a safe standoff distance from the grill.
The long handle is handy to help spearing hot dogs from the grill in addition to spearing pickles and olives from the jar. You can get the last of the mayo or mustard from the jar without getting the goop on your knuckles.
My friend and leather maker was over yesterday and he kinda balked at a sheath / traveling protector. I was picturing white leather with red lacing.
If someone sees this and can't live without it, drop me a message. It is not officially for sale, but I am open to offers. I'll let her go for $60 delivered.
Anywho, comments, questions etc welcomed or ignored, dependent on my mood
