It doesn't look like a big difference when they're laid on top of each other, but it sure "feels" a lot different in hand. The SJ just feels like a big knife to me, the BA does not.
The difference is in the handle. The SJTAC was too. . . .anorexic in the handle area. You really see the influence of the new SR line in the BATAC handles. MUCH closer in feel. More. . . meaty.
It's not a LOT more steel, but enuf to fit better in the hand. Esp at where the index finger rests - VERY thin on the SJTAC to me. The BATAC is fatter there and feels MUCH better.
There is also a lot less rounding of the micarta on the BATAC vs. SJTAC. Square-ish like the SR line. Fits the hand MUCH better.
The choil-area is also "fatter" on the BATAC. As I look at them together, the SJ seems like it's primarily a fighter. The BATAC like a mid-sized user. I'd expect to take out enemy agents with my SJ and hack up a moose with my BA.
