I got one today from KnifeZilla.com, and to be honest I'm quite impressed. I've never been known to be a fan of Philipine made Balis. This one however isn't too bad. Maybe the Filipinos are finally getting their act together.
Heres my review (if anyone is interested):
~This is by far the heaviest "non-skeleton handled" knife I've ever played with, equal to my BM 45S. Nice fat handles too (I love that).
~The fit of the inserts into the brass handles is flawless (not a gap in sight!). A first for any Philipine Bali I've seen.
~Overall length open is 11 1/4". Large.
~The Blade is thick, double the width of my BM 45S at the spine, and is pretty sharp. There are no markings at all on the blade,
so I'm not positive of the steel type. Knifezilla says only "high carbon". Downside is, theres no KICK area, so that sharp blade may not stay that way for long.
~Balance point closed is dead center. Open, is an inch and a half below the PINs. Right where I like it.
~I worked this Bali hard for a good half an hour and...... THE PINS DIDN'T BREAK(inserts are still tight too). Whoo Hoooooooooo!!!!!
All in all, I wouldn't use it as an everyday carry knife, mostly because of it's size, but it is a beautiful example of a Philipino Balisong. Perfect for the collection.....
I think it's a Keeper!
