Is this a good light/kubaton? I like having something on my keys i can stick in my waist band vs. keeping my keys in my pocket. here is a link to it, Click me. Are there any other options? Thanks

As a light, it's mediocre and out of date. It produces light, so it's handy to have, but if you're wanting an actual flashlight, look elsewhere.

What you're getting with the Baton Light is basically a weapon/self defense tool disguised as something else. It's a kubaton, but it produces light, so it's a "flashlight". So if what you want is a kubaton that won't raise as many eyebrows, it's a good choice. But if you want a flashlight, you can find many brighter, smaller, longer lasting lights.

ok i have brighter, smaller, longer lasting lights, lol. But its not garbage, so i will be ordering one thanks.

what's a millicandela?

ive heard of candlepower, and of course lumens, but....

well, at least it has 42,000 of them, whatever they are.

a light that doubles as an impact weapon?

any surefire 2 cell or larger will do fine, especially with the impact bezel attached.

but at your pricepoint, i cant think of anything. since it would not be your main source of artificial light, i think its fine for what it is.

At that price point the Inova X5 is a good one to look at. It is about $35 and would make a handy impact weapon or fistload. It is not keychain sized but is a pretty good flashlight and would easily take on the role of impact weapon.

Milicandela would probably be a fancy way of saying this light isn't too bright.

In other words they could say 42 candlepower, or 42,000 milicandelas!

What sounds better? Does lipstick on a pig really make it more pretty?:p

I would agree that you might as well get an Inova X5, it's almost the same length, certainly a little bigger in diameter, but a heck of a lot brighter. That little thing might do well if you're attacked by an ant colony, but it's not going to do much against some brawler.

Added benefit to the X5, if you use the CR123A's in any other flashlight (like a Surefire), it will work for a long time on the batteries a Surefire treats as depleted. So you get to run your X5 for free.

I have white, blue, and UV X5's. Nice lights, won't light up the night but will brighten your path where you don't want to glare-blind everyone around you. Awesome solid body for striking.

That's an excellent point; many of the guys who have 123 flashlights have a stack of batteries they're ashamed to throw out because they know they have charge. Unfortunately, many flashlights won't be able to use them, but the X5 will use them quite well, for a surprising amount of time, at a surprising brightness.

Think of it as being prudently frugal, I guess!

Also, the 123s last a long time unused, so they make a good backup light. I have a green and a red from NiteCutter that mostly sit around and have been going strong on "depleted" batteries for a couple of years now.

Ok i was not trying to cheep out on this one lol, i was just looking for something kinda like it. I think i will get a X5. Thanks Alot
