Ever since I saw moosez video I have been considering adding a bk3 to my collection and have a couple of questions. I fondled one at my local military surplus and really liked it but it seemed the edge was not Sharp at all. Was this on purpose to make the edge stronger? How does it do batoning wood? Would that screw up the serrations? What do current owners use yours for?

Mine arrives tomorrow or Wednesday, I plan on putting it in my B.O.B. Considering the thrashing of the car in the Youtube vid, I suspect it should handle wood just fine. That being said, yeah my only concern would be the serrations, then again I've seen plenty of vids of people batoning with serrated blades.

About the only thing it doesn't do well with in the woods, is chopping. The chisel grind makes the thing jump, now, if you swing lefty, its different. Here's Lady Moose batoning some with it, she does this alot with several different kinds of knives. This last winter, we were using a Condor Kamunga.

She says it works for her. I agree, I've batoned some with it before, it works.:D

Realistically I would probably put it in my bob or my truck, but my big Beckers most common chore is splitting wood for campfire, etc. So I'm glad to see that it performs well with that task. Thanks for the input guys! It's looking like I might be picking one up soon!

I was wondering the same thing, although I was thinking batoning through metal. I was thinking about this really tough plastic for a baton. I think it's called delrin, but i'm not sure. You can buy it in bar stock and machine it.

i figure it's made for abuse, and it's my primary batoning tool when camping.

why baton a good knife when i have the ultimate froefroe? yes.

it's also handy when i need to open fuel cans, or abuse things :>

also also, the lady folk seem to really like it quite a lot. appealing non threatening tool? then again, the Machax is well loved. certain people have tried to steal mine :>

Because they are Beckers, and they are made to be used! :D
