Batoning with the BK4 Machax?

Hi all, still very eager to get my hands on a Machax when they are available.

I was wondering if people with Machaxes have used them successfully for batoning.... I'm sure the blade is heavy enough to deal, but I wasn't sure about how the curved blade, or the top of the blade, works with batoning.

I'm sure I'll try it, and I'm equally sure my BK2 will remain my batoning blade of choice. I wonder how batoning with the Machax will feel compared to batoning with my BK9?

works just fine. do it all the time :)

i also convexed the edge, and i'm using an older model, which is a WEE bit thicker, but that shouldn't matter.

course, i'm of the mind set that one should baton KINDLING not LOGS, ya know? i have done 6 inch logs, just to see if yes in fact, it will

it's more efficient to carve off little bits and a time, not split them in half; unless you're MAKING something, but for burning? waste of energy, imho

i know people have a fetish for it, so you know, it'll do the job. everyone needs a fetish i guess ;) one of MINE is axes. they split well ;)

Sure its a wedge. It'll work. But couldn't you just chop it in half? :D
