This is another of the knives that I had Coop shoot last week. It is a replica of a 19th century Louisiana Bowie. It was made by Dr. Jim Batson MS. It is a 9 3/4" damascus dogbone Bowie with fossil ivory and 14k gold trim and pins. The sheath is Sterling silver.

This knife was the Chairman's Knife at the 2005 ABS Reno Show. I think Coop did a great job photographing this knife.

Thats a lovely knife and sheath. I particuarly like the handle wrap with the rivets and pins. Nice work from Coop too.

Jim, I have seen several of Batson's knives and that is far and away my favorite. You should bring that one to North Carolina sometime and let me handle it!! And, as usual, Coop made an outstanding picture. Thanks for posting it. Bill Wiggins

Very nice. I would like to try my hand a a dogbone one day, but thet look intimidating to pull off, at least for me anyway.

I think that Mr. Batson makes the nicest classic dogbone style bowies of anyone. One day I will have him make me one.

Jim - That's a great piece of work by Jim Batson. I had the pleasure of examining that one in person during a presentation he did all about its construction. Here's my own Batson Dogbone Bowie:

Buddy,

Thanks for posting that photo of your knife. It's a great piece. I think JIm makes a great dogbone Bowie.

The best of the best, i think. An incredible talent. And, a historian. He is the ultimate in this period style. Like Lucie, on Scagel.

This is quite a knife and sheath Jim. One of my favorite
dogbones.
I hope to get the chance to examine/handle it in the future.
