I haven't posted for a while, been working on some different things and this is one of them. This is one mean battle axe, the cutting edge is 5 1/8" and the handle is a touch over 21", this gives plenty of room for 2 hands and lots of power but still is easily handled with 1 hand. The handle is maple with a touch of wire inlay and I stitched the leather wrap around the hand area to give it rusty look, it sure does feel good.

Thanks for lookin,

Bill

That's great Bill. As always it's an inspiring piece. I always love seeing your work, keep it coming.

IMHO you've crafted a very nice piece there, Mr B!!

That sweetly flowing inlay reminds me, do you know where on the web is the picture of your wire inlay chisels made from bandsaw blade? I remember thinking it clever to make them that way when I saw the photo, but failed to archive the picture of the tools, much to my chagrin. TIA.

Bill, ol' Ragnar Hairy Breeches would have been proud to have that in his hands when he jumped off the long ship, along the coast of England so many hundreds of years ago.! ;) :D

Wow, That is some of the best damascus I've seen on a hawk. really great.

Awsome Bill, I'd hate to be on the receiving end of that, shield and armor not withstanding-don't think shield and armor would stand up to that!

What's the steel mix? Great pattern

thank you all for the comments, I truly do appreciate them. The steel is a combination of 15n20 and 1080, its been manipulated and folded in several different directions, matter of fact I'll have to find my notes to see just exactly what I did do to obtain it, seems like my memory span isn't what it used to be.

Again thanks everyone

Bill

What I like best about the damascus, Bill - is that it has a "flame" quality to it. Equally wicked up close as it is far away. Good work. ;)

Beautiful piece, Bill! You told me the steel was gonna be pretty cool, and, man, were you right! A great "package"!

Wow, Mr. B! That steel is just awesome. The whole package is just a great piece of work ... beautiful!

hey Nanc/Mike, thanks guys for the compliments. I warned fitz that the steel was really cool and it turned out better then I had figured. This is one hefty piece of equipment but you ain't seen nothing yet, in a few more days I'll show you this ones big brother.

Thanks again

Bill

Looking forward to this next one, Bill! The preview description sounds way cool!

Bill - did you get the email I sent?

I better make something a little clearer fitzy, the steel in this next one isn't as impressive as this one, but shape sure is. I hope to get it finished soon.

Daniel, I just seen the pm and sent you one back, let me know if you didn't receive it.

Thanks,

Bill
