Just finished this after 2 weeks of working on it, the pics aren't very good but the project came out very well.

Blade; wrapped and hand forged 5160, 7 1/2 inches long with a 5 1/8 inch
cutting bit, spike is 4 1/2 inches of 1084, overall head length is
11 inches. Cap spike is tri-bladed forged taper file.

Haft; 24 inches of carved Paduk with an oil finish.

Fittings; 24 gauge twisted copper wire, copper sheet and plate.

Overall legth; 26 3/4 inches.

Thanks for looking

Thanks all, IG, I started with a small drill hole slightly larger than the wire, applied a drop of super glue and inserted the wire then ended the same way, coated the start and finish of the wire with epoxy(yes Jay, Sorry, I said epoxy ;) )then slid the colars down to lock in the wire. Then I put on two coats of laquer over the wire hopfully allowing zero movement in the wire. I used 24 gauge wire, I think it gives it a cloth like appearance with no visable voids such as when larger gauge wire is used. By the way it may not look like it but that is almost 200 feet of wire.

Bruce Jay says I gotta fix the house first so more later :D

Holy moly, that thing got my pulse racing. I love it! Geez, 200 feet of wire. Very very well done!

That thing is absolutely awsome Bob. It's a beautiful piece of work. You keep outdoing yourself.

Now get back to work on the house and stop calling me Jay. ;)

You actually split the head to form the hole to receive the shaft? If so VERY nice - takes a bit of skill not to split the head when expanding the hole.
