Here ya go John...since you and I are the only two Alpha males:foot: oh I mean to say Alpha folder fans...here's by newest Alpha.

It came with a LE box with the label Alpha Hunter B277-BP2-0. The blade is of course stamped 279 as you can see. So wrong box or label or something. It's a keeper non the less.

Hi Gordon,

That 279 has some very nice stag! Truly a keeper and a wonderful score.

Well I ran into this and had to buy it. Turned out nobody else wanted it.
Here is the writeup:

Buck Deluxe Folding Hunter # 276 with Stag Handles
A new unused Deluxe Buck folding belt knife. Early production series of Buck's Alpha Hunter with heavy, hard to find. genuine Stag Horn handles. Knife frame and blade fabricated out of 440 stainless steel, hardened to 51-56 rockwell, which is one of the stainless steels custom makers prefer. Blade and edge holding qualities are superb. Knife has been under glass case with other knives in my collection and exibits no wear or handling marks whatsoever. Deluxe leather case exibits same fine quality without any marks. Belt loop size on case is 1 3/4".

Now here's the thing, I sent an email and asked for a picture of the other side to see the quality of the stag. So she sent a picture of each side and what'a ya know...I could make out a Bos stamp on the right blade tang.:thumbup: Maybe I'll remember to add to pic's she sent but the stag is a very good match so you got the idea.

A fella just gets lucky now and again. :D:D:D

I have two 279s and one 277 with Bos blade. One 279 was a fixerupper because of a bad sharping job and is now my winter EDC. I always like the weight of the Alpha Hunter. Mine are just regular ones, I really like the stag scales.

Another nice find Gordon;). Any Alpha with stag for $79 is a real deal. Post a few photo's when it's in hand.

John,

The stag Alpha got here today. Really fat stag on this one. It is a ATS-34 knife so really nice piece. Also, it has the same date stamp as the Cut out knife at the top of the thread. The sheath is a 276 stamp. So what do you think? Its kind of a odd collection of blades, handles, and sheath. Probably a one off.

Since you have some stag Alphas, how do you like the thumb stud as it relates to the fat stag?

I'll try for some pictures when I get a chance.

Flat, I believe that the same sheath can be used for the whole Alpha Hunter series. The leather sheaths are marked 276 but can be used for all.
