Battle horse vs blind horse

So this is a new line for me. The woodsman pro has my eye. After doing some research, I see the name changed from blind horse knives to battle horse knives.

Does anyone have info to why? I'm assuming a split in partnership.

Has quality changed from blind horse to battle horse? Should I be searching for a blind horse over the battle horse woodsman?

Thanks!

There was a split between the two partners at Blind Horse. They are both still producing some excellent knives under new company names. Battle Horse is run by Dan and Judy Coppins. They build excellent knives and are great folks to deal with. Buy with confidence!

LT Wright is the other partner and his company also builds some incredible knives. Win / Win

AFAIK, the two people who had Blind Horse split up. I believe LT Wright started Battle Horse, I could be wrong. I wouldn't worry too much I'll bet the quality is still there. Both of these guys were really good guys when I had the pleasure of meeting them many years ago. Edit; had it backwards, Dan owns Battle Horse.

They did split into Battle Horse Knives and LT Wright knives. I dont think there has been a quality change. They each took their respective designs with them when they split so if you cant find a Woodsman by battlehorse it may be an LTWK design.

Personally I prefer the LTWK designs.

Thanks all! I think I'll try and find a blind horse if possible and if not get a battle horse!

As for fit and finish, I would give my nod to Battle Horse knives.

I know a few guys who has received LT Wright knives with uneven grinds.
And to my hands Battle Horse just felt better.

I haven't used battle horse or blind horse knives but I have 4 knives from LT Wright. I would expect good things from Battle Horse knives. LT Wright does use a wider range of steel types such as CPM 3v on some blades which makes me prefer his knives.

Just checked... woodsman Pro is an LTWK model

Battlehorse makes it as well. I've got two Battlehorse Knives Woodsman Pro models, a standard removable handle model in O1 with a Scandinavian grind and a custom version in 3/16" CPM 154 with a saber grind. Both are very well made and sharp as hell. I've yet to sharpen these knives as a few swipes on a loaded strop bring the edge back nicely.
I can't speak to LT Wright's version but I have used his Genesis and it was very nice. I really don't think you could go wrong with either version.
As to the steel selection, I'd figure out what you're looking for then see which company offers it. I know Battlehorse offers a custom order version which offers a decent selection of handle, steel, thickness, grind, liners, etchings, etc in most models or you can even submit a drawing of your own. I haven't checked LT Wright's site but I'd imagine he provides something similar.
Good luck.

I don't have any LT knives but I do have a Battle Horse Highlander FFG in O1 steel and I would put it up against just about any knife in the general price range in terms of build quality, fit and finish, handling, etc.
