This is the first time I have used this site
I have a couple of questions 1.How strong
is the battle mistress? 2.Where did the old
style grips go? 3.Is $219.00 a good price
anybody got a better one?

Welcome to the Busse Combat Forum!!!
Here are the answers to your questions....

1) There's nothing stronger....Busse Combat has a motto..."whatever broke your knife killed you first"

Seriously, if you do a search here on the forum for performance testing, you should find at least a few dozen reports from users and testers.

2) They are gone...replaced by the E handle.

3) Don't know what you mean here, but a Battle Mistress is $347 retail..it has never been near the $219 area to my knowledge. If you know someone who is selling their's for $219, just make sure you're not getting sold a bill of goods...if you're sure it's a Busse Battle Mistress, grab it up!!!

Welcome to BFF. The BattleMistress, and all the Busse Infi knives, are as tough and strong as they say. They are superb working knives, well worth the money. Just make sure you are getting the real thing. If you're in the market, Andy Prisco is the man.

The one I got a price for turned out
to be a Combat Basic 9 not a Battle Mistress
could you explain the differance? thanks

Okay that makes more sense. The main differences between the two are a half inch in length, the handle materials; respirene "C" for the combat basic and micarta for the BM, the new ergonomic dropped handle of the BM (more comfortable and efficient for chopping) and finally the fact that the BM is made with INFI steel, while the Combat Basic line is made with modified INFI. Modified INFI sacrifices a small amount of INFI's nuclear toughness but is less expensive to produce while still remaining an excellent blade steel.

The price you found for Basic 9 is certainly not a bad one, but if you visit these guys

and sign up for their "code 3" pricing you just might do a little better

Welcome to the best forum on the web!

Battle Mistress' are tough as south hell.

Do yourself a big favor and buy one from Prisco. When you handle the BM for the first time, you will forget what you paid for it. They truly are a bargain, in my opinion.

All I know is Andy sure knows how to do business and he really works hard for his customers...

AND...

Jerry sure knows how to make a knife....

Yesterdii, I was walking up to the barn when this cocky white leghorn rooster pro-ceded to crackle at me. I drew my nine inch variant (The Melvin Project) and gave it a single flip chunk from about ten feet. That big mean, balanced blade stuck up in a pine tree about two feet from that loud-mouth rooster. I said, "I's got's spurs too!" Ya know that old smart-mouth bird took off and kept his big beak shut up the rest of the evening.

I'm still overwhelmed by the performance test video.... After meeting Jerry this weekend and the crew at a show, I'm convinced the Busse Blades are the only way to go for Fixed blades.

This evening I was in a hurry and grabbed up the straight Steel Heart Clip Point Variant and stuck it in my belt. That same rooster was in my tomato patch. I drew it and gave it a little flash and that ole rooster took off in a real hurry. I think I'll start calling him "Ole Busse Bait."

Yes, good option

I clicked the link to 1 stop knives before I realized I was in a zombie thread. Fyi they dont carry Busse anymore, and thats not just hog treachery :D

Try Shomer-Tec. Last time I saw one of their catalogs, they had the Basic line at pretty reasonable prices.
That might have been around the time this thread started, though.

Theyre sold out of Busse but man do they have some killer cool 007 gear!

If I were going into battle......I'd spend the extra money and get the Battle Mistress.

You get what you pay for.
