Battle Mistress Vs. Basic #9

OK, I am new to the Busse line. Can someone explain in detail the differences between the Battle Mistress and the #9 and what makes the Battle Mistress so much more expensive? Is it the INFI vs. Modified INFI?
Any help is appreciated.

I don't have either with me, but I think that the modified INFI is the main difference along with the Kraton soft rubber style handles. I know it's not Kraton, but can't remember the material used. The BM has Micarta slabs. The blade design appears to be the same. Does anyone have both to be able to compare? Is the blade ground the same? is the edge convex on the basic as well? Is the coating the same or different?
 
the handle is respiration c. not sure if i speeld that correctly. Jerry told me that it is far superior to kraton. Geoff.

As to the edge, isn't it partially convex, and partially flat ground or something to that extent?

Yes, the edge is convex on the right side, (edge facing down) flat on the left side. The handles are different, as stated above, and also the width of the blade. I THINK the Battle Mistress is wider although I don't have a Basic #9. Hope this helps, By the way I really love my Battle Mistress as it is in my opinion worth every cent. Later, Jeff
 
BM has a wider blade (as do all of the "Extreme Combat" models, I believe); BM is full-tang vs the "stick" tang of the Basic series; BM has a useable finger choil; and BM is significantly heavier (19 oz vs Basic #9 14 oz).

BM blade also appears in-line w/its handle, while the Basic #9 has a noticeable forward sweep.

here is a funny one. Eric was asking a question and I was no where near my knife collection to be able to make a comparison. I did have one blade with me though, wherever I was at the time.:confused:
 
Ironically, that is about the same exact time I bought my first Busse, and fell headfirst into the trough....:thumbup: :cool:

Respiration C. ROTFL!!! If I found a SHSH or SHBM at a gun show for original list price, I'd need some of that Respiration C for sure.
 
Man, I didn't know I was into INFI before Eric. That post is, well... old. And now poor old sevenedges is banned, how sad.

Cobalt, I'm sevenedges. I was making a joke about it. I posted about what happened when I came back as xanax you can dig it up if you like. Basically I got banned for letting a chick have access to my computer. She is gone......with the wind now though.:thumbup:

Xanax, I did not know, LOL. That's what happens when you let a chick run your life, hehe. Now that makes sense. Too bad you can't unban your old sig.
