Did Busse ever make a ZT BM-ergo with a coated blade? How would the ZT blades compare to the regular BM blades? Under what circumstances would a Busse blade be made "sterile" without a Busse logo?

Thanks for the education! Cheers

Yes. There are at least a few...

They were lighter @ 3/16" thick, and have a short swedge.

Military, and preferred look to some customers for their own reasons. I like a clean satin blade. :)

:)

Yes, there was a coated ztbm military overrun. I haven't seen many of them though. I have a user and I have seen at least 1 or 2 safe queens circulate.

That second one with Satin is drop dead gorgeous, My congratulations

I don't have the regular one anymore. I liked them about the same and let that one go. I still have the ZTSH and ZTNO though. They are really cool.

I still have one of these two. Very light and fast knife. But not a heavyweight chopper.

Please pardon my ignorance as I'm still new around here. Were these made by Busse for ZT & branded as such? As in Zero Tolerance owned by KAI? The same company that owns Kershaw & Shun? Also if anyone knows a general time frame when these were made. Just curious, I'm a fan of ZT as well. At least until the Busse Combat folder is unveiled :D Thanks in advance for any info.

They are not related to ZT/Kershaw, and I think they were the first ergos ever made, so right between the straight handles and regular ergos. I don't think the original basics were still available. That was right around when I first got interested in Busse knives, but it was several more years before I got my first.

IIRC, Jerry had sent some steel stock out to a shop to be ground down to a certain thickness, and there was a miscommunication, and the metal was ground too thin. Jerry used it to make the ZT series. No relation to any other company.

Thanks for the information and for sharing many great pics.

What do you think a fair price is for one the ZTBM-E with coating in like new condition?

Thanks again

That seems like an interesting thing to pay for, but I appreciate your frankness. Thanks again for the above pics and education.

Just an informational post. The Ergo's had been out for some time when the ZT's were produced. I remember the announcement, there was a huge interest at that time, very cool stuff. I always wanted a ZTNO but never got around to it.

The desert sage coated ZTBM's came out much later, a special offering that again was well received.

Then there are the Terror Monkey ZT based knives, very interesting camo coating and very nifty logo.
