Thanks for the info.
I am looking for a basic (no coating) Fat Battle Mistress. Maybe I just have to be patient.
Welcome to BF, and our little corner of it; the BEST knife community you could ever find!
There have been two models of the Fusion Battle Mistress that are naked. The FBM LE (Limited Edition) was done with a satin finish, with Magnum (thick) scales of Tiger Stripe Micarta. Original retail was $697, plus shipping. These show up on the Exchange here, or eBay, for near cost. A GREAT deal, get it while you can. Then there was the FBM 2007 Special Edition, made in small numbers for the Blade show. Finished in DCBB (double cut bead blasted) with Black/Gray scales. They were $527 plus tax at the show. You will never see one at that price again.
The CG (combat grade) FBMs were coated, and have the corrugations. Prices varied, but started at $367 (?) for basic black. The Fat Flat FBM (FFFBM) were made from thick stock, like the LE, but sabre ground, and coated. Prices vary, (4450 - 480) but both of these models can be had for not much over original list price. Some folks have stripped the coating, buffed the blade with Scotch Brite, or even reground the blade profile to get a thinner edge.
Your patience wil be rewarded. Stick around, pour yourself a drink, lurk, post and generally enjoy yourself. (no.....not THAT way!
