Could someone with experience with the CGFBM, NMFBM, FFBM, Tell me which one of the three has the best balance, ie feel in the hand. Not worried about the bwm at this time. Just looking to get a big heavy duty knife, for chopping, carrying. I guess I just like big heavy duty blades. Thanks,
 
I won't say that the CGFBM has the best balance for others but it is my favorite of the three you mention.
 
I have no experience with the CGFBM, but between the other two, the NMFBM rocks it!
 
CGFBM has the best balance and feel in hand IMO.
 
Well it looks like two to one for the CGFBM so far. Trying to decide which one to get because I don't have ready access to see how they feel in the hand. Thank's Hogs,
 
NMFBM! It's a big knife that takes a beating but feels like a mid-sized knife to me :thumbup:
The CBT of the CG just doesn't do it for me and the FFBM feels a little bulky.

This is just my opinion, however. You are going to be told that each one is the best :p
If you can, find people near you that have these knives and give them a try. The nice thing about the BM's is that there is an option for everyone :D
 
No comparison to the others, but I liked my FFBM. Just traded it though for another knife that i'm going to sell for cash towards an NMFBM. I like the longer blade.
 
I have ergo, cg, ff, nm and bw mistresses. I'd go with the CGFBM if I could only have one to use.
 
I would have to vote, and I always will, for the FFBM or FBM LE! The extra heft is exactly what you need in a bigger knife for efficient chopping.
 
I got on collectors web looks like the FFBM is the heavier of the mistress, probably be a better sturdier heavy duty knife. And the LE version with the satin finish is just awesome, IMHO,

Although I'm a little torn between the new BwM and the CG FBM.
they are both GREAT!

But honestly, it depends what you mean by "best balance"... :confused:

The CG and FF are more neutrally balanced that the NM...
With the CG being most neutral, FF having slightly more forward than the CG,
and the NM being really blade heavy.

And, the CG wont give you the heft feel of the FF or NM...
with both the FF and NM being fairly close in overall weight.

So... where are you at NATO? :confused:
Anywhere in MA or surrounding? I have all of the above if you're close. :thumbup:

Of the ones that I have had, the NMFBM LE wins by far. The blade geometry (full convex), the extra length, smooth mag grips, and the perfect .280" thickness just seems to be the right combination overall. :thumbup: At least it does for me! I was so impressed, I got two. :D
 
LIl' Foo, nice comparison between the mistresses. I'm in missouri that would be a pretty good haul for me, hahaha! But I appreciate the offer. I'll probably in the end wind up with all of them, I can see now this is going to wind up getting kind off expensive. You Hogs are a great bunch of guys and very Imformative. It'd be quite the haul even if I met you half way! :D

I came here looking for just one... and you know what happened to me. :eek:

Really... I do like them all because they all feel different in one way or another.
Heck, they even can feel different within a subgroup (cg to cg / ff to ff...)
not so much in balance, but in grip feel. The handles may be CNC'd exactly the same,
but each handle is custom formed to each blade... so really they are a
production knife with a custom fit & finish. The best feeling CG I have was
the 4th one I recieved... It's mag handles are more rounded and less blocky
feeling that the others. It's the one that became my user. :thumbup:

It really would be nice if you could pick them up and get a feel for them before you buy...
But from what I've seen & heard, thats pretty difficult at shows with all the competition at the trough. :p

Good luck... it will be a fun ride finding your perfect mistress. :D

Thanks LIl' FOO, Yes this is going to be fun, besides the other Busses I'll want to aqquire also.
 
I just like the NMFBM - cauze its smoooooother :)

Of course a striped CGFBM is not too bad either ...but the NM treatment really makes it just so much nicer :)
