What do you guys think of this Busse-kin blade. I had one - a long time ago but fancy checking out the SR-101 again

My favorite Res-C handled blade of all time! Differentially heat treated SHBM blade profile with a Res-C handle; whats not to like?! The original black crinkle Battle Rat took me a full year to baton & chop all of the coating off. It seems that the crinkle from back in those days was noticeably more durable.

If I could only have ONE Bussekin to keep, it would be a toss up between the Battle Mistress and Battle Rat.

Whoo Hoo! Good to see!!! Thank you Eric!!! :D :D :D

The Battle Rat and Camp Tramp are and will forever be the flag ship's of the Swamp and deserve to be discussed here instead of there.

I have both and will never see fit to let them go.

I love mine. All the chopper I'll ever need. Until the Yard comes out with a kukri like my Tamang! ;)

how do you think a Siegle hoodlum 2 stacks up to the battle rat bro?

I've handled a Hoodlum and a few other Siegle's and you cant go wrong with his work, top notch.

I dont think you could feel under knifed with either blade, the res C of the Swamp Rat is excellent and Siegle's handles are some of the best ergonomically out there. Bang for your buck is equal in both.

The Battle Rat is probably my favorite Swamp Rat, with the possible exception of the 3/16" Rat Shaker I. Great large chopper. Hard to beat for it's weight.

The Battle Rat is easily one of the top 5 Blades from ALL Busse Family knives.

If you thought the old crinkle coat is tough......try old smooth coat....almost as hard as the knife itself!!!!!!

If you get a chance, pick up a Satin Battle Rat

Now I know where two of them are!

I have the Satin Battle Rat, and from looking at the photo above, it just struck me. Maybe it is just the photo angle, but did the SBR and the BR have the same profile? here the BR looks a bit pointier.

The battle rat was my first large chopper. I have tired a half dozen other choppers in the past five years and none can compare to the ergonomics, toughness, edge holding capability and overall effectiveness of this knife.

Definitely one of the all time best.

AFAIK, same profile, but one is a saber grind and the other is a full-height grind. I have an SBR (full-height grind). If you like the saber grind regular Battle Rat, you will LOVE a satin Battle Rat. I'll never get rid of mine.

I have had a few SBRs and they all differed slightly in profile. One especially had much more "Belly" than the others. Once I get back home, I will try to find some comparison pictures

Thanks, Gravelface. Mine has an apparently more rounded belly as well. Curious as to why that might be.
