Part of my Job next summer will be making trails on 33 thousand acres of private land. I've decided to get a Swamp Rat Battle Rat for the job. One of the guy's I'll be working with has a monster blade he made for himself out of truck springs... It weighs about 3 pounds and cut's like an axe. He offered to make one for me for the job as he said a good chopping blade is a must, but I want to really test out one of the Battle Rats.
Does anyone know how long it takes to get one of the Battle Rat's?? I'll order it after the new year regardless  :D :D

3 to 6 weeks is the max wait. Sometimes the Rats are on hand and can be had at once!:D

The BR is a great chopper and a great knife in general. Hard to beat...especially for the price.

However, if you're going to be doing nothing but chopping all day, there are better tools. For brush, a large machete, for larger wood a large khuk or axe. The BR is great tool in that it is versatile and not too heavy. It is awesome for camping and backpacking. However, if I was going to be chopping/clearing all day, I would look around for a more specialized tool. Now, when SwampRat comes out with that big beefy bolo I've been harassing them about....things change :D

Well, there is also the weight issue to contend with. I'm going to giver a try at any rate... I'll be sure and post the results next fall:D
